The inmates of Pusat Penjagaan Kanak Kanak Terencak Akal Melaka are given a lifelong lifeline due to the generosity of Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee, Malaysia's Youngest Philanthropist.
On the 28 of each month, regilar as Swiss clockwork, Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee sends his staff to drive from Kuala Lumpurf for near 3 hours to deliver RM 10,000 cash plus household goods and food for the children. The children are handicapped mentally/physically, abandoned by parents or are left in the centre as their parents are too poor to look after them. Some parents collect their kids in the evening daily to take them home on a full stomach!
Says Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee, "I am father of 3 young children and I cannot bear the thought of them getting hungry or ill. So I understand the plight of poor parents who cannot give the basics to their kids. Children do not care about branded goods as they only want food, safety and a roof over their heads. These I try provide."
