According to traditional Chinese beliefs, the releasing
of birds, animals or fish is an act that generates powerful feng shui and good
luck to both the releasor and community. This simple act earns great merits as
the lucky ‘chi’ (cosmic energy) will benefit everyone.
Says Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee, “I opted to release 1
million fish fry as the tiny fishes will grow into adults in 2021 and local
people can catch them for food. This spiritual act transcends all religions as letting
fish into their natural habitat to grow and thrive is universally accepted as a
show of kindness that has a happy ending for everyone.”
The 1 million fish fry included Tilapia, Soon Hock or
Sultan Fish, Carp, Catfish, Tengadak, Semah, Jelawat and other riverine species
that grow easily and quickly plus are nutritious.
The location of this temple in Banting is specially
chosen as Guanyin is the Goddess of Mercy and during this sad time of Covid-19
pandemic, every Malaysian must be on standby to help each other. Guanyin or the
Boddhisattva of Compassion is said to have attained enlightenment but postponed
her entry into Nirvana to stay back on earth. Her mission is to help all
sentient Buddhists enter Nirvana before she joins them.
Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee’s ‘Fish Fry Liberation’ act
perfectly matches Guanyin’s compassion and symbolises all that is good in
humans.
The released fish fry will replenish the stock of
fish and rejuvenate its aquatic stocks. Adds Dato Sri Liow Soon Hee, “This
contribution by Winner Dynasty Group and Yayasan Winner Emperor SeDunia is part
of our water conservation efforts to raise public awareness of water resource
preservation. An unhealthy water system is dangerous for human life.”
